 "Sisters Day" by Marti Ronemus

This is another observance that I feel should be an International Month, not just a day. I have three younger sisters (no brothers) and they are a major blessing in my life.

Let's expand the spirit of this day to include our bridge partners, brothers and sisters of the soul. Yes, they are dysfunctional occasionally and now and then make terrible bridge judgments. BUT!! They love us anyway for OUR mistakes. We need to do the same. No one needs three opponents at the table, and half the fun of bridge is sharing with a great partner.

End of lecture. Let's see if we can make our Bridge Bros and Sisses proud of us with our bidding and play today.

 J 10 4 3

Q: 1 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--11
?

 Your choice:
A: 3: What, you say? You still play STRONG Jump Shifts? If so, you need to pass with this hand. BUT!! We encourage you to turn your hand from a pile of puppy chow into a trick-taker. The WJS (Weak Jump Shift) tells Pard your hand is a Crummy Dummy UNLESS you get to name the trump suit. You're promising a six-card suit and an otherwise worthless hand. In Diamonds, you've got a lot to offer your Sib.

Q: 2 - South?
SouthWestNorthEast
-11Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: 2: A new suit by an unpassed Advancer is forcing for one round, and that makes us a little slow to make this bid. BUT! We've got so much shape and a lot to offer in either suit. Pard may only have 7 pts, and we may end nose down in the dirt, but you've got your sister at your back. Otherwise we have to pass.

 Your choice:
A: 1 No-trump: Nothing special here. We're showing 6-9ish points and stopper(s) in Their suit. We're also suggesting stoppers in the unbid suits, and our bro will be delighted to see we have what we promised.

 Your choice:
A: 4: Wow! Sis really found a great suit. We know she's got five of them and enough points to force us to bid again. Our hand will be a fabulous dummy with lots of ruffing values AND!! Look at what a great DUMP dummy our hand will make with those great Hearts.

 Your choice:
A: 1: At the one-level, we can just squeeze out a bid. We are forcing our sis to bid again. If she's got a nice hand? Who knows where we might end up.

And now, let's share an interesting hand with our wonderful Pard.
