"A Mixed Blessing" by Marti Ronemus

How many ways is the left-over turkey going to reappear in YOUR house over the next few days? Sandwiches? Soup? Pot Pie? Turkey Salad? Turkey Tacos? The Terrifying Turkey Tetrazzini? It can appear in so many guises, but it's still turkey. We're going to have to live with it for a while, so relax and enjoy.

Meantime, let's practice bidding. If we do a good job maybe we'll be rewarded with a bowl of Turkey Chili (yes, there is such a thing).

A: Double: My goodness, yet another opportunity to aid Pard in our defense. The double of an artificial bid is almost always a request for a lead of the suit doubled. Cool beans... er, hot turkey!

 Your choice:
A: 2: Ah yes, one of our favorite bids, the Cuebid. When Pard doubles a minor, he may be 4-3 in the majors. We want to make sure we end up in our eight-card fit rather than our possible seven-card fit. By Cuebidding their suit, we are telling Pard in essence to pick his own darn suit. Our bid is unlimited and forcing.

 Your choice:
A: 3 No-trump: Impossible to resist this lovely turkey sandwich. Pard is holding a decent five-card Spade suit and at least 10 pts. We've got some very nice cards and we're BEHIND East with our 15 HCP.
