Lead DIrecting Doubles by Steve Nellissen

Lead Directing doubles occur when the opponents bid a suit artificially, or are cue bidding controls or when asking for a specific lead against a slam. The "Lightner" double of a slam, asks partner to lead a suit which you intend to trump. In general, we don't double slams to garner a bigger penalty, we try to get partner to lead either his longest suit, or dummy's first bid suit, which we intend to trump. We may not have a second obvious trick, as we are trusting the opponents might have bid seven with all the key cards. Let's try a few of both simple lead directional doubles and doubles of slams.
