Michaels Cue Bids by Steve Nellissen

A direct cue bid of Openers suit shows two suited hand of at least 5-5 with either 0-11 points or 16 points (Good/Bad Michaels). With 12-15 points and a 5-5 hand, it is best to overcall the higher suit and hope to rebid the lower suit at the two or three level. If you have the 16 you usually re-raise partners preference. Cue-bids of any kind are not alertable.
The basics are below:
1♣-2♣= 5 -5 in the Majors
1♦-2♦= 5 -5 in the Majors
1♥-2♥= 5 ♠'s and an unknown 5 card minor (Advancer bids NT to ask)
1♠-2S= 5 ♥'s and an unknown 5 card minor (Advancer bids NT to ask)
These cue bids are theoretically forcing, unless RHO bids and you have no clear prefernce between partner's two suits. Let's try a few...
