Oh the joy of making a slam! It’s even better if you actually BID it. And that’s what this program is all about – how to bid more slams, avoid BAD slams, and make the ones you DO bid… not always easy. Many less experienced players miss slams from a combination of a lack of knowledge and downright fear. We’re here to help you!!
Let’s start with Barry Rigal’s offering, all about counting for slams. Barry is the perfect guide for this adventure, and he shows us how to increase our chances for making a finesse. He shows how giving up one trick to make two is good accounting. Also, there’s a fascinating hand where Barry shows us why a finesse that looks less promising is actually the better choice.
Next Matthias Huberschwiller has two offerings for us. He gives us six hands that focus on a critical skill… knowing when to pull trumps and when to hold off on that. Many many contracts have fallen under the sword from not knowing the timing of trumps. After practicing these hands, you’ll feel much more secure about that decision and see the opportunities it can produce.
Matt also has a quiz for us on Roman Key Card, which is without a doubt one of the most useful tools for finding slams.
Finally to encourage you newer players, a little personal story. I clearly remember the very first time I ever bid a Grand Slam. It was back in 1989. It was a cold slam. EXCEPT at the first trick I blew my entry to the board, and went down four. (My husband, who can’t remember what I wore to our wedding, remembers – and frequently reminds me of – the details of the hand). This will not happen to you with Vu-Bridge. We are here for you and will make you the star you deserve to be.
