Editorial by Paul Bowyer
Welcome to the first edition of Vubridge Expert Kit. This edition has twelve deals (in two sets of half-a-dozen) on the topic of Endplays.
This is all about making your opponents do all the work, putting them on lead at an awkward time (for them) and making them lead something to their disadvantage. These things take careful timing, but can be oh, so rewarding. Practice makes perfect, and you’ll have plenty of practice here.
The remaining eight hands are all on counting the hand. This is a vital skill, but is overlooked by too many players. It’s another area where practice makes perfect, and we will give you plenty of hands to practice your skills over the coming months. Enjoy.
Series #5612 - Endplays - Part I
This first series looks at presenting the opponents with a choice of fatal alternatives, by putting them on lead when they have no winning options available.
The aim of an endplay is to put an opponent on lead at a time of your choosing, so that he makes a lead that is advantageous to your side. That lead may be into a tenace (such as into an A Q combination) or it may open up a frozen suit.
Series #5376 - Endplays - Part II:
Building up on the knowlege from the previous (above) series.
