Welcome to the twenty-fourth and final edition of Vubridge Expert Kit. In this issue we continue the theme from issue #23 by providing you with real-life deals that were played at the table by experts. The dozen hands here have been selected from some of the all-time great players across the world, some still with us and some long departed. The bidding reflects the time that the hands were played – not all of it fits modern practice. Still, it’s the cardplay that concerns us and master players, old and young, can provide you with a vast array of clever ways of landing difficult contracts. See if you can find the lines of play and the defenses that these masters did at the table. If you do, then you can consider yourself a very fine player indeed.

The third and final series of eight deals in this issue is, as ever, all about counting the hand. These deals involve the idea of looking for important clues, possibly by analyzing the bidding or the lack of it. If you want to find out more about a hand, you may have to do some digging. Our excellent young British expert, Ben Norton, shows you how.
