Editorial by Paul Bowyer
Welcome to the fourth edition of Vubridge Expert Kit. We always bring you two sets of six deals – and here the theme is Playing the Odds. Don’t worry, there is no abstruse mathematics involved here; no really deep knowledge of probability and statistics involved. You just have to visualize all the possible layouts of a suit and ask yourself what line of play caters for the greatest number.
That’s easy enough, isn’t it? Well, to be honest, maybe it isn’t always that obvious…
The other eight hands, as ever, are all on counting the hand. Here, you have a partial count on the hands, so you have an odds play rather than a sure thing. If that makes little sense, we suggest you get into the hands as soon as you can and all will become clear.
Playing the Odds - Part I
This series, part 1 of 2 in this issue, is all about the best way to handle certain suit combinations.
Some may be familiar to you, others may not.
Playing the Odds - Part II:
Building up on the knowlege from the previous (above) series.
