Editorial by Paul Bowyer
Welcome to the eighth edition of Vubridge Expert Kit. As ever, we provide you with a dozen themed deals split into two series. In this edition we again focus on suit play, taking up where we left off in issue #7. Again, you are challenged to make a variety of contracts as declarer in a suit. Some of these are decidedly tricky; the first series of six deals has no real theme but should make you think carefully. The second set of six deals does have a theme that links them, but we are not going to reveal all of our secrets just yet – that would make the hands too easy. You need to take note of the hints that we drop and play accordingly…
The remaining eight hands, as ever, are all on counting the hand. This is a definite step up from the deals we have produced so far. Some of these deals also fall into the “decidedly tasty” category. However, they are all logical if you stop, think and (have we mentioned this before?) COUNT.
The Correct use of Trumps - Part I
This series, part 1 of 2 in this issue, is all about how to play trump contracts to best advantage.
There is no special theme in this first set of six deals, but you have to keep your wits about you.
The Correct use of Trumps - Part II:
This series, part 2 of 2 in this issue, is all about how to play trump contracts to best advantage.
There is a theme running through these six deals, though we are not going to tell you what it is.
