What to lead with no inferences on the bidding by Linda Green

How many times does one have to find a lead, and the opponents have not given any information away in the bidding?

We are left to our own devices and need to determine a killing lead! Let us try and work on our logic on what they may hold, according to the bidding.

 Your choice:
A: 5 - As the opponents did not use the Stayman Convention looking for a 4-card major they usually have the minors. A major suit is the way to go. If ever you have to make a decision between two majors and no real choice - lead the suit with the better holding in the suit. The 9 spades looks better than the 4-2.

A: 9 - This is the exception! When the opponents get to the 6 level in a NT contract we lead PASSIVELY, from what we do not have! They have to look for finesses and extra tricks. Do not help them please!

Remember : A 6NT contract, no matter what the bidding, lead PASSIVE.
