Choices on opening leads by linda j green

How many times do you have two suits and cannot make up your mind what suit to lead?

If the suits are equal in value, lead the one with better intermediate cards. If the suit is only a 4-card and not equal in value, lead the top or second highest of the worst suit, to discourage partner. Hoping partner will return another suit through a weak dummy.

 Your choice:
A: 8. When the opponents do not bid Stayman, a major suit is the way to go! However, lead from what you do not want back by leading the second highest. Let us hope that partner will see the weak suit to be returned is the heart suit to collect 4 tricks and the trick partner won.

Should you lead the Q one cannot defeat the contract as it is only a 4-card suit. If the heart suit was a 5-card suit, the Q is clear cut for the opening lead.
