Q: 4 - You are East. Your partner leads the
♠6.
Declarer plays the
♠2 from dummy.
Which card do you play as East?

A: ♠9 – Just like in the previous question, you have a tenace (Ace-Nine) behind dummy’s Queen. You need to finesse by playing the nine when declarer plays a small card from dummy.
It is true that declarer will most likely win this trick, but this does not matter. If you play the Ace immediately, you risk establishing dummy’s Queen.
For example, if declarer has King-Eight in Spades, if you put up the Ace you establish two tricks for him. If, on the contrary, you play the nine, declarer can win with his King but later partner can lead the ♠J and you can capture dummy’s Queen.
