L122 Which unbid suit? by linda j green

If we listen to the bidding and the opponents bid two suits, how do we know which unbid suit to lead and which card?

It is of great importance to deduce if partner could have made an overcall or not at the one level.

We should not blindly lead fourth best of the suit we like. Especially if we have two suits.

 Your choice:
A: 2 - If we have two unbid suits it is usually better to lead our better suit and not from the Jxxx. Partner had the opportunity to bid over one club. Declarer did not open a diamond.

 Your choice:
A: 2- When the opponents use Blackwood always listen to the bidding. If partner could not make a lead directing double over 5 hearts, lead the other unbid suit. Should partner hold Kxx or KQ x in the heart suit , a lead directing double of an artificial suit asks for that suit to be led. They are on their merry way to slam. You need not fear! They are not going to be playing in hearts and you will not get to play in that suit redoubled either!!

 Your choice:
A: Q- If you have a choice between a 4-card suit and a 5-card suit, we should look at the quality first. When one card is missing (the ten) this is called a sequence.
We lead the top.The diamond suit is far better and will unlikely give declarer a cheap trick. With one card missing ( the ten) we lead the top of a broken sequence. NEVER the 8!
Another example
Same goes for J1084, we lead the Jack, only the 9 is missing. Same situation.

 Your choice:
A: 2 - Listen to the bidding. Opener showed 9 cards in two suits and a stopper in the unbid suit. We lead fourth highest of the unbid suit. Two cards touching is not a sequence. Three cards touching or nearly touching are a sequence in a NT contract.
