Should You Lead Your Singleton? by Matthias Huberschwiller

A singleton is often a great lead against a suit contract. However, that's not always the case.

Do you know when you should not lead your singleton?

Good luck!

 Your choice:
A: 2 - A singleton trump is usually a really bad lead because it could help declarer capture your partner's holding in the trump suit.

For instance, if partner has something like J-10-x-x, a Heart lead could cause him to lose his likely trump trick.

 Your choice:
A: 2 - Do you want to ruff with your K-J-x behind declarer's Spades? No!

You need to set up tricks. Lead from the suit in which you have something.

When declarer is weak, you can make an active lead. If you happen to lead into a tenace, it will likely be in dummy, so you won't have given anything away.
